The Wilderness Road Regional Museum presents a Patriots and Peonies Service on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at the Historic Newbern Cemetery. The “Patriots and Peonies” service will be held as part of their Memorial Day Weekend events. Participants will place flags and flowers on the graves after a brief presentation on the history of Memorial Day. A guided tour will follow sharing some selected stories of the soldiers and families contained within the cemetery. Following the Patriots and Peonies event, the Wilderness Road Regional Museum will have a Civil War Era Brass Band in concert at 5:00 pm at the Old Courthouse Lawn.
