Stop the Bleed (Free Community Class):

Date: May 23, 2019
Time: 5:30 - 7:30 PM

Description: The Western Virginia EMS Council, Inc. has partnered with both HCA and Carilion Hospitals and multiple entities in the New River Valley to offer Stop the Bleed, a free community class, on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Montgomery County Government Center.

Learn the basics of bleeding control. Events and outcomes can change in a second and permeate our lives. The question, “What can do we do to prepare ourselves?” is at the forefront of our minds. Automobile, farming, home, and workplace violence, accidents and injuries also cause life-threatening bleeding.

Stop the Bleed is a program that teaches community members how to stop life-threatening hemorrhage before the arrival or trained Public Safety providers. Bleeding Control Basics (BCon) training is being provided by members from a cooperative effort who represent LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, Carilion Clinics New River Valley Medical Center, Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council, Montgomery County Emergency Services, Davis EMS Systems, and New River Health District. The goal of the group is to educate and empower its community by training as many people as possible through the Stop the Bleed program and BCon training.
