2019 Sunday Concerts with Root 2 Music:

Date: July 21, 2019
Time: 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Venue: Mabry Mill
Organizations: Root 2 Music
Description: Mabry Mill continues their 2019 Sunday Concerts with Root 2 Music on Sunday, July 21, 2019.

ROOT2 MUSIC is the musical intersection of Deep South country blues and Celtic/Appalachian fiddle music. David Frank (guitar, harmonica, vocals) and Nancy Reid (fiddle, vocals) perform traditional and original blues with a distinctive Appalachian flavor.

When David moved up to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where the sounds of Nancy's fiddle had echoed for years, this duo formed a musical partnership that blends down home slide and traditional fiddle. Nancy has studied with Celtic fiddlers Ben Lennon and Liz Carroll. David early on started playing slide guitar because the strings were too hard to mash down on his old Kay guitar with the warped neck. What results is a unique blend of two musical roots – Root2 Music.

Enjoy old time music, or some variation of it, is as much a part of this region as the way residents cook their food, wear their clothes, or speak to you on the street. It is an outpouring and an overflowing of the landscape, the culture, and people. The Blue Ridge Parkway may be thought of as a connecting route between many important stories, music being one of those for certain.

All performances at Mabry Mill are free of charge.

Bring chairs or blankets for seating.

Note: Concerts may be canceled in the event of lightening or other extreme weather conditions.

Mabry Mill is located at 266 Mabry Mill Road at Meadows of Dan, Virginia.
