Description: Glade Road Growing and New River Land Trust present Kids in the Dirt: a Summer Farm Education Series with their fifth workshop titled "Field to Plate" on Saturday, July 13, 2019.

Build a true understanding where our food comes from and how our health and nutrition is affected by what we eat. We’ll engage all the senses while harvesting and washing vegetables and herbs in the field. We’ll chop veggies, make dressing and prepare a colorful salad to share.

We’ll also enjoy a farm fresh snack together to follow. This series is geared towards kids ages 5-12. Supplies and a farm-based snack provided for each workshop.

Registration required. Sign up for each workshop closes on the prior Wednesday by 9:00 pm.

Kids in the Dirt is a unique series of workshops and a collaboration between Glade Road Growing and the New River Land Trust. All workshops will be held on Saturdays from 12:00-2:00 pm at Glade Road Growing. You will be asked to sign a waiver at check-in.

Workshops include:
• Hands-on education for kids that engages all the senses
• Opportunity to connect with nature- inspiring curiosity and wonder
• Exposure to and participation in planting, growing, harvesting and preparing food
• Freedom to explore and play on the farm
• Practical skill-building that boosts confidence
