The Blacksburg Ukulele Situation started with two members and a monthly Open Uke Strum in March of 2015, The Blacksburg Ukulele situation enjoyed a revolving and evolving membership until crystallizing into our current, four-woman group in the fall of that year.

Ever since, members Diana Dougherty, Barb Dryman, Kathryn Kelley and Johanna Jones have shared a love for music of many kinds, along with the valiant ambition to try it all out on ukuleles. Between us we have experience in acting, animal science, art, counseling and managing homes, families and gardens…not to mention countless other interests, great and small.

For their Simply Elemental performance at the Hahn Garden, the Blacksburg Ukulele Situation look forward to performing a selection of popular songs from the eighteen hundreds through the twenty-first century, with a particular focus on the songs they like best.
