The Mayapple School presents a Flower Farm Camp for ages 11-14 starting on Monday, July 26, 2021 through Thursday, July 29, 2021 meeting from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily at Stonecrop Farm in Giles County, VA. Experience life on Stonecrop Farm, a flower farm whose terraced fields and greenhouses produce the New River Valley’s finest cut flowers. Campers will have the opportunity to take part in many parts of a bouquet’s journey, from seeding and weeding to harvesting and flower arranging. We’ll also take advantage of Stonecrop’s many woodland trails and make art just as bright as the flowers we harvest. Snack is provided and campers should bring their own lunch. The cost is $160.00 per camper. Scholarships are available. Sign up for a Scholarship spot if your family’s income is: • 0–185% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), and pay $0.00 (full scholarship). • 186–205% of the FPL, and pay $55.00 (greatly reduced fee scholarship) • 206–225% of the FPL, and pay $105.00 (partially reduced fee scholarship) This camp is held rain or shine and takes place outdoors and in the farm’s greenhouses or potting sheds. Rustic outhouse facilities with handwashing stations are provided (no modern bathroom facilities). Stonecrop Farm is located at 267 Sassafras Lane in Newport, VA.
