Description:
Blacksburg’s Market Square Jam is a weekly jam session that takes place on Tuesday evenings in downtown on the corner of Draper Road and Roanoke Street. The park is also the home of the Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The Market Square Jam is set to occur from 7-11 pm, however this can vary depending on the musicians who show up to perform.
At the Market Square Jam on any given Tuesday, musicians gather together to pick a tune, enjoy some fun times with their friends and family and take in all that downtown Blacksburg has to offer; beautiful green gathering spaces, timber frame market stalls, comfortable benches where you just might meet your next best friend, old homes rich in history, and a vibe that keeps you coming back.
If you’ve been following the New River Old Time Music Association over the years come out to the park, they’ll be there. The Jam caters to traditional, old time, blue grass, folk, and a little bit of blues, but if you’re a musician of a different tune, as long as you’re unplugged, pull up a chair and bring on the jam.
If you’re a musician, come on out to the Market Square Jam and play along. Or, if you’re just looking for some great music and a place to kick back on a Tuesday night, bring a chair, bring a blanket, and join us at Market Square Park from 7–11pm.
The intent of the Market Square Jam is to facilitate and encourage the live performance of traditional music at Market Square Park. The general format shall be old time, bluegrass, folk, and blues.
