Description:
The Radford University Museum of the Earth Sciences is pleased to welcome Dr. Robert C. Whisonant, Professor of Geology at Radford University. Dr. Whisonant will be presenting his lecture "Rocks, Terrain, and Great Battles of the Civil War".
Since the beginning of warfare, military commanders have appreciated the importance of terrain to the success of their campaigns and battles. This presentation looks at how distinctly different kinds of rocks (or sediments) created very dissimilar landforms where four great battles of the American Civil War were fought.
Please join us for our last lecture in the spring semester series.
