Dr. Kevin Concannon will present a special lecture on artist Salvador Dali and Virginia. The free talk will be held in McGuffey Hall room 203.
Kevin Concannon is Professor of Art History and Director of the School of Visual Arts at Virginia Tech. He received his PhD in Modern/Contemporary and African art history from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to Virginia Tech, Dr. Concannon taught art history at The University of Akron. In Concannon’s prior museum career, he managed outreach programs for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond and the Neuberger Museum at Purchase College. Concannon is also active in SoTAL (the Scholarship of Teaching, Assessment, and Learning), and he serves as chair of the College Art Association’s Committee on Diversity Practices.
Dr. Concannon’s scholarship focuses on art of the 1960s, particularly the work of Yoko Ono, the subject of his doctoral dissertation and his M.A. thesis. He has curated many exhibitions of contemporary art and he is the author of numerous publications, including an article on Dali in Virginia, which is the topic of his talk.
