Understanding social media is crucial for businesses both large and small. In today’s rapid-fire economy, businesses must understand how to capitalize on the buzz generated by marketing products and services on social media sites.
To help organizations grasp the intricacies of social media, New River Community College is offering a seminar entitled “Social Media Marketing” on Friday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at NRCC’s New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg and on Friday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to noon at NRCC in Dublin.
Seminar topics include the advantages of social media marketing, the various social media platform options, costs, which types are appropriate for which businesses and how to get started with social media marketing.
The instructor for the seminar will be Laurel Schirr, NRCC corporate trainer. Schirr has extensive marketing experience and her educational background includes a master’s degree in management from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
The fee for the seminar will be $18. However, thanks to special funding obtained by the college for this purpose, fees will be waived for the first 10 businesses to enroll employees (up to four employees per business).
