Description:
Join us for a fun-filled family weekend June 9 and 10 as Giles County commemorates an historic action between Confederate forces led by Gen. Henry Heth and a Federal regiment led by future U.S. President Lt. Col. Rutherford B. Hayes.
On Saturday enjoy a military parade down Main Street Pearisburg, a Living History encampment, BBQ dinner, period music and dancing and a Civil War hospital.
On Sunday see a grand reenactment of The Battle of Giles Court House! A film crew will be shooting the entire weekend for a documentary film.
Sunday's Schedule:
10:00 - 12:00 pm - Camps open to the public
1:00 –- 2:00 pm - Battle Reenactment
The Battlefield site and encampment is located off old Route 100 just beyond Bluff City. However, there will no NO parking for spectators at the battlefield on Sunday.
Visitors may park at the Magic Mart/Food Lion parking lot at 302 South Main Street, or the municipal lot behind the courthouse located at 501 Wenonah Avenue, where they can board a shuttle bus to take them to the site.
Cost for the bus is $3 for adults and $1 for children under 18. Bus riders will be given a wristband to ensure that they have a ride back to the parking lots.
