Description:
Local authors Terri Fisher and Terry Nicholson will be signing copies of their new book, Blacksburg Then and Now on Friday, June 29th at the Community Arts Information Office (CAIO) on College Avenue in Blacksburg.
Books will be available at CAIO, and proceeds from the sale of the books at this event go towards the restoration of the Alexander Black House. Nicholson is the Museum Administrator for the Town of Blacksburg.
Blacksburg has always been on the frontier’s edge: pushing the boundaries of westward expansion in Colonial Virginia, as a leader in agricultural and mechanical education with the founding of a land-grant university in 1872, and home to a leading research institution known today as Virginia Tech. The history revealed by numerous historic structures is the foundation that makes Blacksburg “a Special Place.”
Featuring more than 200 images, Blacksburg Then and Now connects old photographs to the same places of today, making history accessible and relevant, allowing readers to quickly absorb the extent of change that has happened over time. Published by Arcadia Press, the book is available at local retailers and through online booksellers.
