Description:
The Giles County RideRiverRun Triathlon & Relay is a three-leg event (individual or relay) over a challenging yet beautiful area of Giles County, Virginia and is part of the NewRiverFest 2012 activities.
The race will begin with a mandatory pre-race meeting at 9:30 am. Racers will then be transported to The Palisades restaurant where the race will begin promptly with the bike leg at 10 am.
Legs of the Triathlon:
- Bike Leg (19.63 miles)
- Running Leg (4.04 miles)
- Canoeing Leg (8.5 miles)
Day of registration begins at 8 am at Whitt-Riverbend Park.
All participants must sign a waiver. Those under 18 must have a legal guardian sign the waiver. Waivers will be available at check-in.
Bikes and canoes must be dropped at their locations prior to signing in at Whitt-Riverbend. Because the race ends at Whitt-Riverbend. We will transport you back to The Palisades Restaurant for the beginning of the race. There will have staff waiting at both locations to watch your canoes & bikes.

Directions to Whitt-Riverbend Park: To get to the park from Route 460 Bypass, take the Pearisburg/Ripplemead exit towards Ripplemead. Follow Ripplemead Road (Rt. 636) across the railroad tracks and along the river to the entrance to the park.
The 4th Annual NewRiverFest will take place on July 6-7th throughout Giles and the closing and award ceremonies will be at the Whitt-Riverbend Park on Saturday afternoon at 4 pm on July 7th. The festival is just 30 minutes from Blacksburg in the heart of the New River Valley and Giles County.
Try participating in one of the three competitions including the 5th annual “Ride River Run” triathlon, our 2nd annual New River Fishing Tournament, or the Archery/Crossbow competition.
General admission is free, entry and activity fees vary.
