Nationally acclaimed hammered dulcimer player and recording artist Maggie Sansone hosts workshops and Americana Afternoon at the Floyd Country Store.
After her stage performance at noon, Maggie will be hosting a Celtic tunes & Celtic slow jam workshop – for advanced beginners to Intermediate from 2-4 pm.
Maggie will teach a few simple and beautiful tunes from Ireland, Scotland, Wales or Brittany. Maggie will teach the basic tunes and some techniques to spice them up with chords and variations to get that authentic “Celtic” sound and finish with a Celtic slow jam.
This is a fun workshop to learn new tunes and have fun playing music with others. The class is geared towards Hammered dulcimer players but other folks who play fiddle, guitar, mandolin, Irish flute, banjo are encouraged to sign up too.
It is required that everyone is familiar and can tune their instrument, play a few basic scales, chords and tunes and are at the advanced beginner to intermediate level. It is recommended that workshop participants bring a recording device (especially for those who play by ear. (Please, no videotaping). Contact Maggie to discuss your instrument and playing level).
