Description:
The Blacksburg Partnership, a non-profit economic development organization, announces the fourth annual Blacksburg Brew Do, an award-winning craft beer festival. The event will be held at the First & Main Shopping District on Saturday, October 6, 2012 from noon to 6 pm, rain or shine.

Last fall’s Brew Do event drew over 4,000 festival goers, and 28 breweries pouring nearly 100 different beer varieties. This year the festival welcomes back the best in craft brewers from the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond, offering another outstanding selection of ales, lagers, stouts, pilsners, ciders, and specialty beers.

Delicious food, cooking and brewing demonstrations, tailgate games sponsored by Windsor Hills Apartments, and live entertainment will compliment a great day of beer tasting at a premier Blacksburg shopping destination. The exciting atmosphere and festival offerings spurred readers of The Roanoke Times to name Blacksburg Brew Do the #3 Best Community Event earlier in 2012.

In collaboration with SAS Builders, Inc., Howls and Meows returns as a fundraiser benefiting the Animal Welfare Foster Program. Through Howls and Meows, luxury pet houses will be designed, constructed, and publicly displayed in the weeks leading up to and at Blacksburg Brew Do. Raffle tickets will be sold for each pet house with the raffle winners announced after the festival.

The fourth annual Blacksburg Brew Do Home Brew Competition sponsored by Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill is also now under way. Home brewers across the region are invited to see how their special recipe stacks up against the competition. The contest will culminate at the festival with the announcement of “Best in Show” and the winner receiving the opportunity to brew their recipe as a seasonal beer at Bull & Bones.

Tasting tickets are available for either a 10 or 20 tastings. Designated drivers, non-drinkers and guests ages 13-20 can purchase admission-only tickets for $5 in advance.

Tastings are 4 ounces each and tasting tickets also include a souvenir beer tasting glass. Admission-only tickets include access to music, cooking demonstrations and other non-tasting festival events.

Tickets will be available for purchase online in the coming weeks at: http://www.blacksburgbrewdo.com/ticket/ or can also be purchased at both Blacksburg Kroger locations.

Note: Bring your ID as everyone will be ID'd at the gate. Small lawn chairs are also encouraged due to a limited number of chairs at the event. And you are encouraged to bring cash as not all vendors will accept credit/debit cards.

Additionally donations for the Howls and Meows pet food drive, benefiting the Humane Society of Montgomery County will be collected. Cash, pet food, and pet supplies will be accepted. More info here. Well-behaved, healthy dogs are welcome on leashes.
