Description:
The Floyd Radio Show: Views from Buffalo Mountain returns for its second season broadcasting live at the Floyd Country Store on Saturday, September 8th.
Hosts Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle bring together a new variety show every month. They write and perform original radio plays, comedy bits, ads, jingles, music and more. Each show features three of the area’s finest old-timey musical acts, from storytelling banjo players to flatpicking guitarists to hard-driving stringbands.
Guests for September’s show include The Crooked Road Ramblers, Janet Turner and Karen Collins. The Crooked Road Ramblers play traditional old-time dance music from Virginia and North Carolina. Band members include Kilby Spencer on fiddle, John Perry on guitar, Donald Hill on guitar and vocals and Karen Carr on bass and vocals. Floyd native Janet Turner carries on the local tradition of gospel singing. Her strong clear voice and accompaniment with autoharp bring old time gospel music alive. Country singer and coal miner’s daughter, Karen Collins writes exceptional songs that she delivers in a traditional style—Hazel Dickens meets Loretta Lynn.
Tickets for individual shows are $10 and are available at the store or can be purchased online at: http://www.floydcountrystore.com/shop/categories/categories-event-tickets
Season passes are also on sale for $72 and that includes all nine shows.
