Description:
The YMCA at Virginia Tech offers a Thrown Pottery class on Thursdays. In this 6-week class, students will become familiar with throwing clay on the potter's wheel.

Each class will start with a demonstration. You'll learn the basic methods for forming clay and shapes like cylinders and bowls. Instructor Michael LaRoche found a passion for pottery while a student of architecture at Virginia Tech. He sells his pottery at juried shows throughout the region including the Y Crafts Fair.

There are pottery tools available for you to use during class, and the fee includes 25 pounds of clay. Additional clay can be purchased for $20 per 25 lb. bag.

Schedule:
Thursdays, 9/6-10/11, 7-9pm, Y Center Pottery Studio
Thursdays, 10/18-11/29 (no class 11/22 – Thanksgiving), 7-9pm, Y Center Pottery Studio

Pre-registration is required. The class costs $125 to participate.
