This month’s show will include a special ceremony in honor of Veterans Day. Participants include NRCC systems/database developer Andrew Meeks performing on the bagpipes, a color guard and honor guard from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post in Radford, a detachment from the Virginia Reserve Unit in Dublin and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pulaski VFW post. This year, special recognition will be given to veterans and their families from NRCC. Pulaski Marine Staff Sgt. Jeremy Austin will also be honored.

Upland Express began in 1974 as a bluegrass band, but has branched out to play a variety of styles including country and rock. Current band members include Barry Collins on banjo, bass and background vocals; Garry Collins on guitar, bass, lead and background vocals; Barry “BJ” James on lead and rhythm guitar and bass, and lead and background vocals; and Dara James on harmonica, guitar, keyboard and lead and background vocals.

The Dry Hill Draggers were originally established in 1981 by Jimmy Boyd and his brother Billy along with Carl Scott, Murphy Shively and Bob Trammel. The group cut their first album in 1982 and is currently working on their tenth project. The band has traveled up and down the east coast, performing from New York to Alabama. In 2011, they placed second in the Old-Time Band category at the Galax Fiddler’s Convention. Current band members include: Stacy Boyd on bass, Jamie Boyd on clawhammer banjo, Jason Hambrick on guitar and Billy Woods and Chris Prillaman on fiddle.
