Venue: Glade Road Growing, Blacksburg
Directions: Google Map Link
Date: Sunday, September 16, 2012
Time: 2:00 - 3:30 PM
Event Types: Food, Family Friendly, Speaking Engagements
Cost: Free
Description:
As part of Sustainable Blacksburg's 2012 Celebrate Sustainability Week, JP and Sally will take you around the farm and show you how they grow vegetables, pastured broilers, apple trees, and more on Sunday, September 16th.

We'll have time at the end for questions and answers and to show the apiary (where the honeybees live) to those who are interested. May Hae will be leading activities for kids during the tour and Aaron Grigsby will be making free brick oven pizza with toppings from the farm (tips appreciated for pizza).

The area we do most of our growing is not very large, maybe four acres total, but still wear comfortable shoes. The tour itself will last about an hour but you are welcome to linger afterwards to ask more questions and enjoy the pizza.

The farm is located at 2351 Glade Road, about 1.5 miles down Glade Road on the left, just after the turn for the Heritage Park and just before the sharp turn in Glade Road. PLEASE please please be careful on the turn for oncoming traffic!

We are only 3 miles from downtown so bicycling and carpooling are encouraged.

Contact us if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing you.

Visit our website for more details on the farm’s operation at: http://gladeroadgrowing.com/ or call: 540-808-0672.

Celebrate Sustainability 2012, a collaborative effort of Virginia Tech, the Town of Blacksburg and Sustainable Blacksburg will be held September 18 through 20, 2012. A more unhurried version of previous years’ Sustainability Week events, this year’s theme, Celebrate Sustainability, encourages us all to take a deep breath and look around at the “Green” efforts that are part of our wonderful community – and to celebrate all that has been accomplished.
