As part of Blacksburg's 2012 Celebrate Sustainability Week, join in a special tour of the Smithfield Garden on Thursday, September 20th.
This event is hosted by the Sustainable Food Corps (SFC), which is a volunteer student organization, dedicated to using sustainable techniques to grow vegetable and fruit crops. The majority of the produce is donated to local food banks. SFC student leaders and faculty advisors will provide a tour of the garden and explain the different sustainable techniques used. Handouts describing these techniques will be available for all visitors.

Celebrate Sustainability 2012, a collaborative effort of Virginia Tech, the Town of Blacksburg and Sustainable Blacksburg will be held September 18 through 20, 2012. A more unhurried version of previous years’ Sustainability Week events, this year’s theme, Celebrate Sustainability, encourages us all to take a deep breath and look around at the “Green” efforts that are part of our wonderful community – and to celebrate all that has been accomplished.
