Join the Montgomery Museum and Fabric Artist Franchell Mack Brown in an opening reception for her new Art Exhibit on Thursday, October 5th. Come and meet the artist and see her work on display.
Franchell was born in Washington, D.C. where she grew up in a home filled with creativity. She was influenced early on by her fathers love of creating and his entrepreneurial endeavors. She attended the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Georgetown. She went on to study Fashion and Fine Art at the University of the District of Columbia while participating in a costuming apprenticeship. Soon after she acquired an apprenticeship with a Georgetown Goldsmith.
After leaving D.C., Franchell lived in Chicago where she produced a group installation with two other artist. She then moved on to New York City. She attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn while working for Artwear king, Mr. Robert Lee Morris.
Franchell eventually found her way to Philadelphia where she was a featured artist at The Works Gallery for several years.
Her work has been printed in magazines and books. She has exhibited and sold her work in Japan, Washington,D.C., Delaware, Chicago, Ohio, Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta, and Virginia. She continues to create while currently residing in South West Virginia.
