Description:
The Jacksonville Center for the Arts offers Introduction to Pine Needle Basket with Jean Koon on Wednesday, October 3rd.

Learn to weave nature’s finest pine needles into beautiful and handy small baskets! Students in this class will spend time creating a lovely and useful basket with a black walnut slice in the center and coils formed from long leaf pine needles.

Students will receive a pre-made basket start which is a maple base surrounded by several rows of long leaf pine needles. Synthetic sinew and a #1 darning needle will be used to sew coils of spartina grass forming the oval basket.

This is a great class to take if you can’t make it to the longer one on Saturday Oct. 6 or if you want a head start on Saturday’s class so that you can make a more complicated design.

Minimum age is 18.
