Description:
Watch classic films under the stars outside Virginia Tech's Newman Library facing Torgersen Hall. The Third Man will be the film shown on Thursday, September 27th.

A 1949 British film noir, directed by Carol Reed and starring Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, Orson Welles and Trevor Howard. Pulp novelist Holly Martins travels to shadowy, postwar Vienna, only to find himself investigating the mysterious death of an old friend, black-market opportunist Harry Lime.

These screenings are free to all, and all are welcome. Pets are welcome too, as long as they're crowd-friendly. Free popcorn will also be available.

Newman Library has a 16mm film collection of approximately 1600 titles. This collection has been built over the last 60 years, and contains films on subjects ranging from agriculture to metallurgy to war as well as several feature films. There are also several films in the collection that were produced on campus at VT in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Periodically, we pull select titles from this collection and put them on display in our front yard.

In case of bad weather, the films will be shown indoors in the 6th floor boardroom.
