Description:
Join Downtown Blacksburg for their Trick or Treat events on Halloween, Wednesday, October 31st. Events include Trick or Treating at area businesses, a Children's Costume Contest, and Scary Strings performance at The Lyric.
Schedule:
4:00-5:30 pm - Trick or Treating at participating downtown businesses
4:00-5:30 pm - Meet Historical Blacksburg characters throughout downtown
5:00 pm - “Scary Strings” with Community Cello Works playing on the Lyric stage
5:30-6:00 pm - Children's Costume Contest at the Lyric
Children’s Costume Contest:
This year will have four age groups: 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. The contest will take place on the stage in The Lyric Theatre and all participants will receive a Halloween goodie bag from Downtown Blacksburg, Inc.
The historical Blacksburg characters are provided by the Alexander Black House Museum & Cultural Foundation with help from New River stage. Characters include Alonzo Freeman (principal for the elementary school for colored children in Blacksburg, before 1950), Harvey Black (Father of Alexander Black), and Roseanna Croy-Dawson (moved to Blacksburg in the 1840’s, a businesswoman) will be located at the Farmers Market, in front of the Lyric and in front of The Cellar/Sharkey's.
Also, you can stop by the Haunted Farmers Market for a few treats.
