Description:
Arlene Goldbard presents "Hiding in Plain Sight: Unmasking the Public Interest in Art" on Thursday, October 18th at the Lyric Theatre.
The event is free and open to the public.
Art cultivates empathy and imagination, sustaining resilience and strengthening social fabric. But far too often, the conventional view dismisses it as a frill. Arlene Goldbard shines a light on the true--and vast--public interest in art. She urges us to reject a frame that is too small to hold culture's real power and potential to nurture civil society and a livable future.
Arlene Goldbard is a writer, speaker, social activist, and consultant who works for justice, compassion and honor in every sphere, from the interpersonal to the transnational. She is known for her provocative, independent voice and her ability to inspire and activate.
Sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Office of the Dean, the Center for the Arts, the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, the Institute for Society, Culture and Environment, and the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology.
