Description:
The Radford University Opera Ensemble will perform a one-act opera for children on Saturday, November 3rd in Performance Hall in the Covington Center.
Directed by Clarity James, The Ice Princess, written by Kathryn Garland Obenshain, tells the story of Princess Adah, whose heart has been frozen by her well-meaning but misinformed Fairy Godmother.
The spell is broken when Adah grieves over a frozen bird found in her garden. Her tears revive the bird, and Adah, experiencing compassion, realizes that it’s better to have a heart that can feel, regardless of the risk of hurt and pain. Other characters in the cast are Lady Anna, Lady Mira, Makita, Jester, and the Bird, played by an offstage flute.
Admission is free.
