Description:
The Blacksburg Community Strings, conducted by Åke-Eric Renqvist, and the Blacksburg Children’s Chorale, directed by Patrice Yearwood, are presenting a Fall Concert, “Changing Seasons” Sunday, November 11, at 3:00 p.m. at Blacksburg United Methodist Church.

The universal language of music bridges national and generational lines, and this marks the first joint concert between these two New River Valley community musical ensembles.

The music will feature Craig County Middle School student Sebastian Seifert performing J.S. Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Strings in E Major, and a program of traditional and folk songs, including a John Howell arrangement of “Walking In the Air” from “The Snowman.”

The program will also feature a raffle for seasonal items including a Thanksgiving basket, copies of The Snowman DVD and book, and more. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $1 from members and families of both groups, and at the door.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The Blacksburg Community Strings (BCS), a community ensemble of violin, viola, cello and string bass players, was formed in October 1999 and had its debut public performance in December 1999. It is made up of middle and high school students, avocational community players, and active and retired professionals.
