Description:
NOTE: Due to the weather of Hurricane Sandy, this event has been postponed until Wednesday, November 14th.
The Creativity Project has partnered with the Pulaski Theatre and Feeding America to bring you a film festival on Monday the 29th, featuring two short films written, directed, and acted by kids and teens from the New River Valley.
In addition to the premiere of these original short films the theatre will be airing classic Halloween cartoons throughout the evening. There will be popcorn and drinks for sale in the lobby during the event, with all proceeds from the sale of refreshments going to support the restoration efforts of this historic theatre.
The Creativity Project is a non-profit group of parents and children of all ages working together to create hands-on learning projects that get kids engaged. Led by two homeschooling moms, the goal of The Creativity Project is to encourage kids to exercise their imagination, find inspiration in the world around them, and work together to accomplish fun and interesting things.
About the films:
The first short film, The Wizard of Odd, is an all ages modern parody of the classic film. The familiar characters have been re-imagined as their mirror opposites which creates a series of strange and funny new dilemmas. The second film, Zombie Xing, is a suspenseful but humorous "thriller" in which a group of young zombies invade an unsuspecting neighborhood. Although it was written and filmed for a general audience and has comedic style at heart, a few brief scenes may be uncomfortable for very young children. There will be a short Q&A session after each film.
The fun gets started at the Pulaski Theatre on Monday, Oct 29th at 6 pm as the actors walk the red carpet "Hollywood style". Admission is one or more non-perishable food items which will be collected for the Southwest Virginia chapter of Feeding America. We'd love to have a great turnout for the kids and a generous donation to present to this wonderful organization!
Come out and kickoff the Halloween season with a night of films, friends, and a food drive for a great cause! Feel free to forward this and invite anyone who may be interested.
We hope to see you there!
