Enjoy The Civil War Day at Rockwood Manor on Saturday, April 27th from 10 am - 5 pm.

Come to Rockwood and go back in time nearly 150 years and experience the Civil War. Tour Virginia’s Civil War HistoryMobile which is an expandable 53-foot tractor trailer which has interactive exhibits and stories of the Civil War from and Emancipation from the viewpoints of those who experienced it across Virginia. The HistoryMobile presents the stories of real People whose lives were shaped by the historic events of the 1860’s and invites visitors to image, “What would you do.“

Also at Rockwood, experience an Authentic Civil War Camp and living history activities by local re-enactors, listen to music from the Civil War era, and see other historical exhibits and information from various museums and individuals in our region who are passionate about history and the Civil War.

Finally, the New River Historical Society/The Wilderness Road Regional Museum and the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley are sponsoring a Civil War Dinner at Rockwood Manor on April 27th.

Featuring critically–acclaimed New York Times bestselling author Sharyn McCrumb. Sharyn McCrumb will talk about her book “Ghost Riders” which chronicles the Civil War in the Southern Mountains, an extraordinary tale of the war that was fought farm-to-farm, neighbor to neighbor in the part of the South that never wanted to leave the union. Sharyn will be in character for the dinner, and costumes are optional.

All events other than the dinner are free and open to the public. Ticket prices for the Dinner, are $50 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley or at the Wilderness Road Regional Museum.

The Wilderness Road Regional Museum is located on Wilderness Road in the heart of historic Newbern. The museum hours are 10:30 am - 4:30 pm Tuesday-Saturday.

The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley is located at 21 West Main Street in Pulaski. Hours are 9:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday–Friday for additional information and to reserve tickets you may call 540-980-7363.
