Description:
The Glen Alton Spring Jamboree and Dance will be held at the beautiful Glen Alton Farm in Giles County on Saturday, May 18th. Bring a picnic for a day of great music and fellowship.
Featuring music from:
• Happy Hollow String Band
• Jim Costa (renowned banjo songster and storyteller)
• Dean Reed & friends featuring Bill Richardson, • Sam Linkous & Russ Boyd (Dean is the son of legendary fiddler Henry Reed, and will delight you with his singing)
• Indian Run String Band (who will be playing their brand of authentic southern mountain music for the square dance)
Music begins at 2 pm, square dance begins at 4:30 pm (no experience required). There will also be clogging and blacksmithing demonstrations throughout the day, and children's play areas. Also enjoy nature walks and the vast beauty of Glen Alton farm.
Come early for raised bed gardening and pumpkin planting demonstrations at 10 am. Come outside and play kids activities begin at 10 am.
The event is absolutely free. WNRV radio will be there recording the show to air at a later date.
Directions: (From Blacksburg) – follow US 460 west for 15 miles. Turn right on Big Stony Creek Road (SR 635). Go approximately 13 miles on SR 635. Turn left onto Glen Alton Road (SR 722). Go across a small bridge, then follow the road on the right. Park at the gate.
