Chapel Hill’s Lizzy Ross Band delivers exuberant Soul/Americana. The last year has dealt them several accomplishments, including being voted the Carolinas’ Best Rock Female, an ongoing stay at the top of HGMN radio charts and on Relix radio charts, being featured on NPR’s The State of Things, an Emerging Artist Award from the Durham Arts Council, and a new album, Read Me Out Loud.
Ross’s voice delivers a charming trill one moment, only to erupt in rough, bluesy emotion the next. It’s a powerful instrument that’s earned her comparisons to artists like Grace Potter and Edie Brickell among others.
