Celebrate Independence Day at Historic Smithfield Plantation on Thursday, July 4th from 10 am - 1:30 pm.

Celebrate at a location that was built before there was a July 4th. Smithfield was built by Col. William Preston a prominent patriot in the Revolutionary War in 1774. Step back into history and spend Independence Day where patriots trod.

Activities include:
• Living History Demonstrations
• Apple Pie Baking Contest
• Children's Activities
• Reading of the Declaration of Independence and Fincastle Resolutions
• and more!

Admission is free for the event. House tours will be available and the gift shop will be open.
