United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd presents their Stuff the Bus event at the Floyd County Courthouse on Saturday, July 20th from 10 am to 7 pm.

Stuff the Bus is a school supply drive for children in need in the New River Valley. During the event, a school bus will be parked at the Floyd County Courthouse the entire day to allow local residents to donate supplies and “stuff the bus.” All items received at the Floyd County donation location will be given to children in need in Floyd County.

In addition to the Stuff the Bus event, donation drop off locations will be located at these Floyd locations Floyd Pharmacy, Republic of Floyd and Slaughters’ Supermarket. Drop bins will be placed at the entrances of these locations from July 1 through August 12, 2013.

In 2012, residents across the New River Valley donated 12,000 items and served 413 children. Although last year’s Stuff the Bus campaign was a huge success, many children and families had to be turned away. With growing needs in the New River Valley, more and more children need our help. We ask local residents to please join us in our efforts to provide school supplies.

Items Needed:
Backpack, Lunchbox, Binder, Folders with pockets, Spiral notebooks (College-rule and Wide-rule), Notebook paper (College-rule and Wide-rule), Erasable ballpoint pens, No. 2 pencils, Highlighters, Pens, Pink erasers, Safety scissors, Washable markers, Colored pencils/Crayons, Glue sticks, Pointed scissors, Ruler, 3” x 5” Index cards, 5-tab index dividers, 3 or 5-subject spiral notebooks, Protractor, Compass, Graph paper, Calculator, etc.
