College Avenue Promenade Grand Opening Celebration with Bike Parade

Downtown Blacksburg, Inc. and the Town of Blacksburg present the Grand Opening Celebration of College Avenue Promenade on Friday, August 16th.
The celebration will begin with a Musical Bike Parade led by Blacksburg Mayor Ron Rordam and will include an official ribbon cutting, remarks by DBI President Charles Woerner, Mayor Rordam and Sherwood Wilson of Virginia Tech. The Panjammers will be provide music following the Ribbon Cutting. There will also be special activities and discounts provided by many downtown locations.
Schedule:
6:00 pm - Bike Parade assembles
6:15 pm - Musical Bike Parade
6:30 pm - Official Ribbon Cutting and Remarks
The Bike Parade will start in the Municipal Building Parking lot on Draper Road and will end on College Avenue. All self propelled wheeled vehicles and walkers are encouraged to participate. Costumes are suggested, but optional. And decorate your bikes too for fun! Bring kazoos, or similar silly instruments to play as you ride.
Bikes should assemble in the parking lot at 6 pm The parade will depart at 6:15 pm. The parade will arrive at College Avenue shortly after.
