The 40th Annual Appalachian Studies Conference presents the #HandsOn: Skill and Creativity in Southwest Virginia Exhibit on Friday, March 10, 2017 in the second floor hallway of the Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.

The #HandsOn exhibits focus on a wide range of traditions, including chairmaking, beekeeping, quilting, wood turning, tattooing, ceramic making, crocheting, homebrewing and poultry butchering.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

The 40th Annual Appalachian Studies Conference, Extreme Appalachia!, is coming to the Virginia Tech campus March 9 through 12, 2017. The four-day event will highlight the cultures, histories, creative expressions and environmental and economic issues facing the entirety of Appalachia. Attendees will explore Appalachia through engaging programs, music and dramatic performances, symposia, and exhibits by scholars, community organizers and leaders and activists.
