Description:
The Crooked Road and the Montgomery Museum present the 2017 Mountains of Music on Main featuring Indian Run Stringband and Adam McPeak & Mountain Thunder on Saturday, June 17, 2017 performing live on Main Street in downtown Christiansburg, VA.
Join us in downtown Christiansburg from 3-7 pm for a free festival of Old Time, Bluegrass, and Gospel music performed by our local favorites Olen and Frances Gardner and Friends, Indian Run Stringband, Adam McPeak and Mountain Thunder, and Mike Mitchell with Floyd Jam and Floyd Music School students.
The Indian Run Stringband from Blacksburg, VA plays fiddle and banjo foot stomping dance tunes, ballads and sings traditional songs with old time harmonies perfect for dancing the two step.
From dance tunes to the blues, the Indian Run Stringband plays with love and abandon. They make old-time music fresh and new.

Adam didn't have to look beyond the Blue Ridge Mountains of his home for the sound he was searching for, the rich blend of harmonies from his dad, Mike McPeak, also on rhythm guitar. Steve Chrisley lending his deep rich baritone and picking the five string banjo, as Marlon Dean saws out the fiddle breaks and plays twin and harmony fiddle with Nikki Wright, as she is putting out the rich and powerful vocals on both lead and harmony and David Chrisley holds them all together on the bass fiddle.

https://www.facebook.com/Adam-McPeak-Mountain-Thunder-312089105277Olen & Frances Gardner are old-time, bluegrass and gospel musicians from Riner, VA.
Olen started playing music very young and partnered with Dell Reeves in the early 50s, performed with Doc Watson in 1971 and recorded with Charlie Monroe in 1974 and performed with him for three years.
Olen and Frances Gardner married in 1975 and according to Olen, have been “playing together pretty much ever since.” They began studio recording in 1976 and have maintained a semi-professional career throughout the years, including several national park service contracts.
Together Olen & Frances recorded an LP in 1976 which was used on "Voice of America" Radio and Radio Free Europe for several years. Thanks to recent Crooked Road promotions, Frances has radio fans in California, and Olen has banjo fans in Australia. They are also receiving radio play in New Zealand.
Mike Mitchell is a singer and songwriter from Floyd, VA specializing in the fiddle and violin. Mike plays traditional and contemporary bluegrass music in the southwest Virginia area.
With his effortless vocals, distinctive songwriting, and instrumental prowess, Mike continues to capture audiences and carve out his own place in bluegrass.
Educated at the Western Conservatory of Music in Ontario, Canada, Mike Mitchell began playing the violin at the age of five. His passion for music led him to a string performance major at Youngstown State University, and more than 10 years of national touring with rock and acoustic ensembles.
Aditionally, Mike performs with the acclaimed mountain music group, Blue Moonshine, and Floyd Time.
