Description:
The 2017 Summer Arts Festival presents the Summer Classic Movie "Cool Hand Luke" on Saturday, July 8, 2017 and Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Lyric Theatre.

Luke Jackson is a cool, gutsy prisoner in a Southern chain gang, who, while refusing to buckle under to authority, keeps escaping and being recaptured. The prisoners admire Luke because, as Dragline explains it, "You're an original, that's what you are!" Nevertheless, the camp staff actively works to crush Luke until he finally breaks.

The 1967 film is rated PG.

With the joint efforts of Virginia Tech's School of Performing Arts and the Town of Blacksburg, the 2017 Summer Arts Festival's features live music, art exhibits, live theatre events, classic movies and summer festivals in downtown Blacksburg. This summer marks the 26th year of this cultural and entertaining festival for the Virginia Tech Campus and the New River Valley.
