New River United presents the 1st Annual Polly Zeiger Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, August 12, 2017 starting and ending at Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center's Soccer Field located off of Innovation Drive in Blacksburg, VA.

Schedule:
• 7:30 am: Day of Registration begins
• 9:00 am: 1 Mile Fun Run
• 9:15 am: 5K Start
• 11:00 am - 2:00 pm: Post Run Party

The Polly Zeiger Fun Run is a family fun environment for both runner enthusiasts and novices. Geared towards both the avid and novice runner and walker, all proceeds will go directly into the Polly Zeiger Memorial Endowment which provides soccer scholarships to those in need.

There will be a 1 mile Fun Run taking place for younger runners and their families starting at 9 am.

Following the 5K run, there will be a post run party called Party On The Pitch for all New River United club members and runners from 11 am - 2 pm with music, food, games, bounce houses, beer and more! The party is included with race registration.

The endowment is a collection of donations that are invested in perpetuity and is designed to provide grants to offset program costs for those that require financial help to play at NRU. Our goal is to be able to meet 100% of this need through the interest income generated by the endowment.

Polly Zeiger was a long-time enthusiastic supporter of NRUSA, and all three of her children played or currently play soccer for NRU. This endowment is designed to help those in need and to honor Polly’s beautiful spirit. Polly’s legacy was her love of community and her drive to help children in need. In her memory, the Zeiger family created the endowment to benefit children playing with NRU.
