Lucie Monroe's Mediterranean Cafe hosts a Drum Circle Playshop on Friday, November 17, 2017.
No previous drumming experience needed. You have a heartbeat, so you have a rhythm to bring to the circle. We will have some percussion to share, but if you have your own drum, rattle, shaker or another percussive instrument, please bring it. The more the merrier!
A facilitated drum circle is a guided rhythmic experience intended to build a musical community focused on mutual support, unity and a sense of well-being. This facilitated drum circle will flow from a warmup exercise, into some practice using simple phrases focusing on Arabic and Mediterranean rhythms, finishing with an improvisational drum jam.
These events are ideal for those who have never attended a drum circle before but have always been interested and curious. Of course, we always welcome those with drumming experience as well! We will have some percussive instruments to share, but if you have your own, please bring it. The more the merrier!
