Description:
The Radford University College of Visual & Performing Arts presents the National Player's Production of Othello as part of the University Performance Series on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Bondurant Auditorium located within Preston Hall on the campus of Radford University.
Othello is a celebrated general returning home from the wars, but his dark skin and foreign origin inspire hatred from several people, especially the man he trusts most: Iago. As Iago twists Othello's love for his wife Desdemona, everyone becomes pawns in Iago's devious plots.
With contemporary clarity this classic tale examines identity, bigotry, and deceit, combining Shakespeare's language with modern clothing to transform the drama into a powerful story for American today.
In the National Players' tradition of producing invigorating productions for modern audiences, "Othello" stimulates youthful imagination and critical thinking.
Celebrating its 69th season, National Players is a unique ensemble bringing innovative theater to communities large and small across the United States and is America's longest-running touring theatre. Founded in 1949, National Players stimulates youthful imagination and critical thinking by presenting classic plays in invigorating ways for modern audiences.
