The Radford University Department of Theatre and Cinema presents the play "This Is Our Youth" starting on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 and continuing through Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Hawes Studio Theatre inside Porterfield Hall on the campus of Virginia Tech.

“This is Our Youth” is the work of playwright and Oscar winner Kenneth Lonergan who won the Best Director Oscar for "Manchester by the Sea" in 2017. Its young characters, a disaffected group of friends in the 1980s, could be from any generation as they resist their parents’ world while growing out of their own.

Set in New York in 1982, "This Is Our Youth" follows 48 hours in the lives of three very lost young souls: Warren, a dejected nineteen year old who has just stolen $15,000 from his abusive, tycoon father; Dennis, his charismatic drug-dealing friend who helps Warren put the stolen money to good use; and, Jessica, the anxiously insightful young woman who Warren yearns for.

The New York Times called this acclaimed play an "acerbic portrait of the real real world".

This play is intended for mature audiences.

Hawes Studio Theatre Series productions are free, however, to be guaranteed a seat, tickets for the production should be reserved online, picked up in person at the Porterfield Box Office or by calling the Box Office at 540-831-5289 during the week of the show.
