New River Community College's Fiddle, Banjo & Dance Club brings you a night of bluegrass and old-time music featuring Sugar Run Band and Friday Night Dance Band on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Edwards Hall located on at New River Community College's Dublin, VA campus.

Sugar Run began as the husband and wife team of Mike (banjo, guitar and vocals) and Bonnie Johnson (bass fiddle and vocals), and has grown to include Geoff White on fiddle and vocals, and Stanley Asbury on the rhythm and flat-pickin' style guitar and vocals. All of them play in or with other groups in the region, as well.

The Friday Night Dance Band is an old-time band from Callaway, Va. Over the years, the band has played at many different venues including jam sessions at Cannaday’s Store in Boones Mill and the Floyd Country Store in Floyd and regular fundraising shows at the Floyd Fire Department. The band also received a commendation from the Virginia General Assembly for their contributions to the community of Redwood and town of Rocky Mount, where they played for benefit dances.

Admission is free however donations will be accepted to help with travel expenses for the musicians.

Doors open at 5:00 pm and all are welcome.

Jamborees are held the second Saturday of each month through April at New River Community College, a Crooked Road affiliated venue. The show is in 117 Edwards Hall.
