Description:
The Radford University Women's and Gender Studies as part of Women's History Month presents the play "Lady Macbeth and Her Pal Megan" on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 and Thursday, March 15, 2018 starting at 7:30 pm each night inside the Bondurant Auditorium inside Preston Hall on the campus of Radford University.

In a sharply relevant and refreshingly irreverent solo show, Megan Gogerty lays out what it's like to be a woman comedian. Spoiler: it's murder.

When comedian Megan Gogerty is informed that she can’t play Lady Macbeth because Lady Macbeth is a tragic figure of powerful darkness, and Megan is the human equivalent of a golden retriever, she sets out to prove them all wrong, only to discover that not only must she reevaluate her preconceptions of Lady Macbeth, she must reconsider herself as both a woman and as a standup comedian. Ultimately, the witching Weird Sisters surface as a model for rebellious woman and sisterhood.

Directed by Saffron Henke, and mixing incisive social analysis and humorous confession, Lady Macbeth and Her Pal, Megan argues winningly for female empowerment and communal resistance. This gutsy and galvanizing show is a must-see for all, promising to serve up jokes, witty lit crit and feminist primer in one insightful and wickedly funny show.

Megan Gogerty is a comedian and playwright based in Iowa City, Iowa where she teaches playwriting at the University of Iowa Playwrights Workshop. Gogerty's work, which has been produced all over the world, includes "Hillary Clinton Got Me Pregnant" (listed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's annual Top Ten Best Plays), "Love Jerry" (winner of three Talkin' Broadway citations and four New York Musical Theatre Festival Excellence Awards), "Housebroken", and "Save Me, Dolly Parton" (named a Best Play in Atlanta by Creative Loafing).
