Floyd Country Store presents their Friday Night Jamboree on Friday, June 8, 2018 as part of the Mountains of Music Homecoming.

Friday Schedule:
• 6:30 pm: Olen & Frances Gardner
• 7:30 pm: Jason Phillips & Friends
• 9:00 pm: Snow Creek Old Time String Band

Olen & Frances Gardner are old-time, bluegrass and gospel musicians from Riner, VA.

Olen started playing music very young and partnered with Dell Reeves in the early 50s, performed with Doc Watson in 1971 and recorded with Charlie Monroe in 1974 and performed with him for three years.

Olen and Frances Gardner married in 1975 and according to Olen, have been “playing together pretty much ever since.” They began studio recording in 1976 and have maintained a semi-professional career throughout the years, including several national park service contracts.

Together Olen & Frances recorded an LP in 1976 which was used on "Voice of America" Radio and Radio Free Europe for several years. Thanks to recent Crooked Road promotions, Frances has radio fans in California, and Olen has banjo fans in Australia. They are also receiving radio play in New Zealand.

The Friday Night Jamboree happens every Friday, rain or shine, all year round at the Floyd Country Store. The first hour is gospel music and this is followed by two dance bands. The dance bands provide the right beat for our enthusiastic crowd of flat foot dancers and cloggers.

There is no reserved seating for the Jamboree, and it is often standing room only, so come early for seat. Tickets for the Jamboree are sold at the door only starting no earlier than 4:30 PM on Friday's.

The Jamboree operates on “Granny’s Rules” – no smoking, no drinking alcohol, no bad language, and no conduct unbecoming to a lady or a gentleman. It’s a great time for the whole family, and you’re likely to see kids from six to ninety-six out on our hardwood dance floor. You may even be one of them.
