Description:
3 Birds Berry Farm presents their 4th Annual Blueberry Pie Contest Fundraiser on Saturday, July 28, 2018.
Event Schedule:
• 8:15-8:30 am: Pies Dropped Off
• 8:30 am: Judging starts
• 8:45 am: Public Pie Tasting begins
Calling all Pie Markers and Jr. Pie Makers, bring your 100% homemade blueberry pie to 3 Birds Berry Farm between 8:15-8:30 am with a list of ingredients or the recipe. The main ingredient must be blueberries!
Jr. Pie Markers are kids 15 and under and the pies must be 100% homemade by the kids themselves. The Jr. Pie Makers will be judged separately.
Pies will be judged by Virginia Tech Executive Chef Michael Arrington and pries for the top three tasting pies will be awarded plus the winners will get bragging rights for a year!
After judging, all pies will be divided into tastings for the audience. Donations for Micah's Backpack will be accepted for tasting. Tastings will continue while pies last.
The goal is to showcase blueberries for National Blueberry Month and raise enough money at the same time to provide weekend food assistance to two families for the entire upcoming school year through Micah's Backpack. The monetary fundraiser goal is $640.00.
Micah's Backpack relieves hunger issues by partnering with local schools to provide direct assistance to students who suffer from food insecurity. Each Friday during the year, students receive a backpack filled with enough food to last an entire weekend.
In addition to the Pie Tasting, local children's author Elise Monsour Puckett will be on hand autographing her new book "The Adventures of Scout & Kit: The Berry Patch" starting at 9:00 am.
3 Birds Berry Farm is located at 1876 Brooksfield Road in Blacksburg, VA.
