The 2018 Summer Arts Festival presents the play "Fiorello!" on Friday, August 10, 2018 and Saturday, August 11, 2018 starting at 7:00 pm nightly at the Squires Studio Theatre located on the second floor of the Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.
From the legendary writers, Bock and Harnick ("Fiddler on the Roof," "She Loves Me") and George Abbott, comes the classic feel-good musical, "Fiorello!", winner of three Tony Awards including Best Musical. This triumphant show is one of only eight musicals to have won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
With crooked double-crossers and manipulators working the political puppets, "Tammany Hall" is in desperate need of an honest man to snip the strings. With guts and perseverance, Fiorello is just the man to put a bright, new shine on the Big Apple. His rise to power is a strained journey as LaGuardia does his best to retain his continuously positive outlook on life while navigating the ups and downs of his life in civil service. Set against the backdrop and beat of a a New York City in the midst of change, "Fiorello!" is a witty, sweet valentine to a little man with a big heart that will surely attract and charm audiences.
Admission is free however advance reservations are strongly encouraged because most shows sell out.

If no tickets are available online for the performance you wish to attend, you are encouraged to come to the Studio Theatre Lobby as early as one hour prior to the performance to be placed on our wait list (first come, first listed). If you do not have an advance reservation, we cannot guarantee seating, but will do our very best to accommodate those from our waitlist. We often have patrons with reserved tickets unable to make it, and those seats are released to our waist list 15 minutes prior to the performance.
