Blacksburg Newcomers Club presents their 2018/2019 Kickoff and September General Meeting on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Blacksburg, VA.

Blacksburg Newcomers’ Club will host speaker from the Citizens’ Climate Lobby to learn more about the proposed carbon fee and dividend legislation, a climate change solution that bridges the partisan divide.

After an hour of social time with refreshments, Alaina Coppa, of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, will speak about the lobby’s mission: "to create the political will for climate solutions by enabling individual breakthroughs in the exercise of personal and political power".

Every month Newcomers’ also features a Community Outreach speaker. In September, Susan Miller of the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP), will detail their mission and how New River Valley citizens can help.

Whether you’ve just moved to the New River Valley or are a long-time, resident, join the Blacksburg Newcomers’ Club to learn more about the issues facing the NRV and to meet your neighbors from across the valley.

There is no cost for guests attending the meeting. Membership dues are $25.00 a year and include participation in interest groups.

Free babysitting is available for pre-school children ages 6 months and older.

Weather Policy: Meetings will be cancelled if Montgomery County Public Schools have a two hour delay or schools are closed. Please check the Montgomery County Public School weather related announcements at: http://www.mcps.org.
