The Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech presents Walk or Talk: Meet the Artist Gerri Young on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.

Our talk will be with artist Gerri Young who will have her art on display at the Peggy Lee Hahn Pavilion September through October. Gerri’s collection on display at the Garden is titled “Mixed Greens”. Join us as Gerri shares her passion of art and talks about her art inspirations and techniques.

Gerri's description of her show states:
While the color green is not prominent in all the pieces in my show, nature is a thread throughout to a large or small degree, depending on the piece. The word “mixed” refers to the variety of media used—watercolor, acrylic, oil, paper, natural eco dying and dried botanicals. Even some of my writing is included in the old window depicting my childhood days on my grandparents’ farm on Happy Hollow Road. This piece is clearly the most unusual and heartfelt piece I have ever done. Sometimes I envy artists who use only one media. Life would be simpler that way, but I just can’t help trying to experience it all!

Gerri started seriously working on her art in 2010 and has been the president of the Blacksburg Regional Arts Association for several years.

All "Walk or Talk" (formally know as Learn at Lunch) programs meet at the Peggy Lee Hahn Pavilion. Parking passes are required to park in our visitor lot. Parking is limited so please come early to grab a pass from the pavilion and find a place to park.

Brought to you in conjunction with the Moss Arts Center’s campus-wide initiative September 10th-14th titled Arts@VirginiaTech Week. Inspired by Americans for the Art's National Arts in Education Week, Arts@VirginiaTech Week will feature diverse events across Virginia Tech's campus that celebrate and illuminate the arts in a variety of disciplines. Participate in workshops, learn from art educators, and advocate for the arts during the week-long festival.
