The New Music Ensemble at Virginia Tech presents "Swarm: Voices" on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Miles C. Horton Jr. Gallery and Sherwood Payne Quillen '71 Reception Gallery located within The Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech.
The New Music Ensemble (NME), led by Jeffery Kyle Hutchins, presents a collaborative vocal performance of Cornelius Cardew’s "The Great Learning, Paragraph 7".
The New Music Ensemble at Virginia Tech focuses on the discussion, performance, and artistry of experimental music since 1970, including works of indeterminacy, free and structured improvisation, graphic notation, and contemporary performance practices. The course is open to any student in the Virginia Tech community, including all instrument and voice types with director and applied faculty approval.
Since its inception in 2017, the New Music Ensemble has premiered over twenty-five new works by student and professional composers and sound artists.
This performance is audience participatory and everyone is welcome. No technical skill or advanced preparation needed.
