Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech presents Virginia Tech Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band in concert on Monday, December 3, 2018.

One of the more exceptional aspects of music is its ability to tell a story without saying a single word. Today’s program is designed to take you on a musical journey that transcends time and place. From the music of the Spanish Renaissance to the music of contemporary American composers, we hope you enjoy this evening of musical narrative.

In 2018, musicians across the globe have joined together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein’s birth. We will mark his centennial with a performance of a collection of dances from West Side Story, based on legendary storyteller William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

The Wind Ensemble will be joined by guest conductor Juan José Navarro from Almería, Spain as well as Virginia Tech faculty members Jason Crafton (trumpet) and John Irrera (violin).

The program also features the Grafton High School Wind Ensemble, from Yorktown, VA, and their director, Darren Kirsch. Mr. Kirsch is a 1995 graduate of Virginia Tech and proud alumnus of the Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts. Thank you to these students for their hard work and contribution to tonight’s performance.

Admission is $10.00 for the general public and $7.00 for students with valid ID.
